First Blog Post

     Hello, my name is Haley Laguador and I am currently an education major at Florida State University. My hobbies include swimming, fishing, working out, and anything that is outdoors or by a body of water. I have grown up in Jacksonville, Florida being a part of many different sports and academic societies. At Florida State I am an afterschool teacher at a local church, as well as a part-time cashier at Publix when I am home. Growing up I had always had my heart set on having an occupation that worked with children and teaching is definitely the epitome of helping children succeed. 

    I honestly am not amazing with technology. In school we spent a lot of time using the whiteboard/SMART board as an interact source. In this day and age, technology is an ESSENTIAL part of any learning environment. I have always used Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and Outlook as means of communication and ways of completing assignments. One thing that has always been somewhat helpful and easy are projectors because it is such a simplified way of showing what is happening in real time. 

    I have developed a few personal learning networks over the course of my education. Being an Elementary Education major, the most important network is the children that I work with. This is because those kids help me to understand what a classroom will look and feel like in real time. It also helps me to develop ways of teaching even before I have gone into the field. Another thing is field research, in one of my other classes she has given us access to videos of teachers and how they interact with their students, which is very beneficial. I also enjoy textbooks and speaking with other teachers about what has worked for them and what has not.

 Hey Blog,      This week I looked at a few different teacher's profiles on a school's website. I first looked at a Physics teacher's page and it included very helpful information for his students such as a teacher introduction, course calendar for each quarter, and different student resources if they are struggling. The second teacher that I looked at was an Art History and World History teacher. I found her site very helpful because it contained a syllabus, course calendar, graduation requirements, a class website, email, and many other helpful resources for both courses. Ninth Post

 Hey blog,      Today I want to shed light on distance learning. For me, although it is quite easier, I find it harder to understand all the material. Especially with the way that assignments have exact dates and times when they are due it is super easy to procrastinate. I dislike the lack of connection between students in the class as well as trying to navigate assignments. But it is helpful to have a distanced learning course in order to find time for studying and having a schedule already set for specific assignments. As an educator, I think it is important to be able to navigate distance learning by holding Zoom courses, in order to create an honest connection even over a camera. It can also be beneficial to encourage outside activities that relate to class work, in order for students to feel as though they can learn in other ways.     Open Educational Resources are accessible to everyone who wishes to use them. Sixth Post

 Hi Blog,     I kind of enjoy Diigo. It is somewhat challenging to navigate, but other than that there are many practical things that are provided through Diigo. It is helpful in storing information as well as, finding other resources like images.      I have really enjoyed blogging. It is a beneficial way to relay information and it is very stress relieving. Being able to write out what you are thinking and having it formatted so simply is helpful in being able to navigate through important information. I really enjoy how BlogSpot puts the information in order by date and also how well it puts together embedded materials. There is not really anything that is bothersome when it comes to using this platform. And as an educator it is an easy and sufficient way of relaying due dates and important information. Before taking this class, I dabbled a little bit in blogging during Middle School just for fun shares and such. But I am so glad that this is heavily encouraged for success.     An i
